This limited edition print of "The Scream" by EDVARD MUNCH was published as an edition of only 85 Worldwide making it a very rare edition. Supplied with the certificate of authenticity signed by the Master Printer. In special bespoke frame and mounted. Note: supplied (free of charge) with replacement valuation certificate for £2000. The Scream is the popular name given to each of four versions of a composition, created as both paintings and pastels, by the Expressionist artist Edvard Munch between 1893 and 1910. Der Schrei der Natur (The Scream of Nature) is the title Munch gave to these works, all of which show a figure with an agonized expression against a landscape with a tumultuous orange sky. This was the fourth version which was done in pastel and completed in 1895. In 2012 it was sold for $119,922,600 at Sotheby's Impressionist and Modern art auction to financier Leon Black. In his diary in an entry headed, Nice 22 January 1892, Munch described his inspiration for the image: One evening I was walking along a path, the city was on one side and the fjord below. I felt tired and ill. I stopped and looked out over the fjord the sun was setting, and the clouds turning blood red. I sensed a scream passing through nature; it seemed to me that I heard the scream. I painted this picture, painted the clouds as actual blood. The colour shrieked. This became The Scream.. H: 100cm W: 75cm D: 5cm

A framed limited edition titled "Street Scene, Pendlebury" by L.S. LOWRY with signed certificate of authenticity (signed by the Master Printer). One from only 95 published worldwide and has been professionally framed in a bespoke frame and mount. It will be supplied with a replacement valuation for £1700 (free of charge). Mint condition. Like the Post-Impressionists, Lowry was interested in recording the nuances of everyday life, basing his work on observations of the world around him. Inspired by the industrial scenes in his hometown, Lowry would stop and sketch during the day then develop a painting such as Street Scene at home. His direct and distinctive style led art critic Jonathan Jones to call Lowry a "modern primitive" to be ranked alongside such artists as Henri Rousseau. A fan of its stiff consistency, Lowry painted with oil paints all of his life, using the paint straight from the tube. Just as Lowry was fascinated by capturing the quotidian, he was also quite elemental in his choice of materials. "I am a simple man", Lowry once said. "I use simple materials: Ivory Black, Vermilion, Prussian Blue, Yellow Ochre, Flake White and no medium." Touches of this choice palette are visible in Street Scene, bringing the scene's realism to life to vivid, yet modest effect.. H: 94cm W: 107cm D: 4cm

A rare limited edition of the 1923 PABLO PICASSO painting "The Pipes of Pan" was published as a numbered edition of only 60 worldwide plus 2 "Master Printers Proofs" of which this is number 2. Complete with certificate (signed by the Master Printer) Framed and mounted and supplied with a replacement valuation for £1800 (free of charge) along with biographical details on the subject and artist. Composed in 1923, whilst on holiday in Antibes, France, The Pipes of Pan is the crowning achievement of Picasso's neoclassical period of the 1920s. The Pipes of Pan is regarded as the most important painting of this period, not only because of its theme, but also because it draws upon classical interpretations of art in a new and modern style. This monumental painting depicts a mythological scene, set in the Mediterranean, in which two classical figures stare out towards a lost Arcadia, Pans homeland. The figures are heavy, sculptural and contemplative. In the painting Picasso transforms Pan, the ancient Greek god of shepherds and flocks who has the hind legs and horns of a goat, into a young boy. Picasso's Pan reveals none of the laziness or lustiness of the original Greek god. The origins of Pans pipes lie in the ancient Greek tale of Syrinx, who was pursued by the amorous Pan and chased into a river, whereby she turned into a hollow reed. Pan then cut the reeds and fashioned them into the first musical pipes. Throughout Picasso's many periods of transition, he would often refer to various mythological figures, one of the most famous being the Minotaur. Yet Picasso was not primarily concerned with the old myths but rather by their transformation into modern 20th century art.. H: 97cm W: 82cm D: 4cm

A striking original painting on canvas by MIRELLA BITETTI of a girl posing on bed. Canvas on boxed stretcher ready to hang. Signed on the reverse by the artist. This lot is supplied with a replacement valuation for £1600 (free of charge). Mirella Bitetti was born in 1963 and was largely inspired by the 1980s. The 1980s were an era of growing global capitalism, political upheaval, worldwide mass media, wealth discrepancies and distinctive music and fashion, characterised by hip hop and electronic pop music. This had a heavy impact on the generation of artists growing up during this time. The fall of the Berlin Wall at the end of the 1980s signified the end of the Cold War, yet the era was also distinguished by the African Famine. During this time prominent art movements included Neo Geo, The Pictures Generation and Neo-Expressionism, which took a strong hold in Germany, France and Italy. Artists such as Anselm Kiefer, Jorg Immendorf, Enzo Cucchi, Francesco Clemente and Julian Schnabel were key artists working during this period, alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf, who established the street art and graffiti movements, which quickly gained recognition.. This WASSILY KANDINSKY limited edition titled "Impression III (Concert), 1911" was published as a numbered edition of only 75 Worldwide of which this print is one from the edition. Complete with a certificate of authenticity signed by the "Master Printer". Each print in this edition has been hand sorted and fully inspected by the Master Printer. Professionally framed to a high standard in a bespoke frame and art mounted. Note: supplied with replacement valuation certificate for £1800 along with biographical details on the artist (free of charge). Condition is excellent. On January 2nd, 1911, Kandinsky and other members of the Neue Kunstlervereinigung Munchen, attended a concert featuring works by Arnold Schoenberg. This painting is reality in dissolution, but still present with the grand piano, audience shapes, yellow representing irrepressible vitality and colours and sound going together. This was the first painting that he made after the concert and the word impression referred to paintings that reproduced a direct expression of an internal nature. This picture is not the particular concert he heard, but his overall impression of the music performance however the central image of the painting is the black angular block representing the piano, so this particular concert is at the heart of the picture. It floats on a yellow sound. The listeners, shown as circles and arcs, are covered in the sound but at the same time are focusing on the piano. The music that so influenced Kandinsky was three piano pieces from 1909.. H: 110cm W: 130cm D: 4cm

This work was produced by the artist during his Bauhaus period in Germany when he taught basic design and advanced colour theory and where he also conducted painting classes. His examination of the effects of forces on straight lines led to his contrasting tones on curved and angled lines and you might describe this work as a geometric abstraction with the circle, the half circle, the curves and the straight lines. Kandinsky was also influenced by Gestalt psychological research which had an influence on him in addition to his colour theory. The Gestalt effect is the capability of the brain to generate complete forms, particularly about the visual recognition of global figures instead of just collections of more straightforward and separate elements such as points, lines and curves.. An original framed mixed media painting on canvas by the late ALEX JAWDOKIMOV (1937-2019). Note: supplied with a replacement valuation for £2400 along with biographical details on the artist (free of charge) Born in Smolensk, Russia, Alex Jawdokimov has led a remarkable life. He was brought up on a kolhoz (collective farm), but spent many of his childhood years in various concentration camps across Europe. He came to England in 1950 by way of Germany with his mother, who was a World War II refugee. He speaks Russian, German and English and became a naturalised British subject five years after arriving in the country. He was a student at the Somerset College of Art, Taunton. In 1956 Alex Jawdokimov spent a brief spell in Canada, learning to fly with the RAF. He then settled in London in 1958 and formed a Russian Cossack Dance Company (his mother had been a professional dancer in Russia) which toured Britain. He also began to act, mostly in minor roles for television. Film parts then followed and he can count amongst his credits films including "The Tamarind Seed" and "The Eagle Has Landed". Despite his love of acting, Alex Jawdokimov's interest was still principally in painting and he exhibited alongside hundreds of other artists every weekend on the Hyde Park Railings in the Bayswater Road. He then worked in an advertising agency, afterwards becoming a freelance artist and illustrator, but he soon tired of the routine and commercial aspect of the work and began to devote more and more of his attention to his own style and methods of painting. Film locations offered wonderful opportunities for on-the-spot sketching and the recording of various landscapes. As a result, Jawdokimov has painted many different areas of the British Isles and the Continent. He lived in North London with his family and his love of the city is exemplified in his many pieces of artwork depicting the famous landmarks and characters of the city where he had chosen to settle. Artist died in 2019.. H: 98cm W: 98cm D: 3cm

Born 1989 in Southampton, United Kingdom- Elmo Hood is a self taught contemporary artist specialising in collage and pop art styles. Elmo currently resides and works out of Brisbane, Australia. Kings and Queens feature heavily in his work along with references to the paranormal and religion. The narrative in his work is often a clear one of love, loss and reflection inspired by personal tragedy experienced. A framed original painting on canvas by MIRELLA BITETTI titled Visione Contraria Supplied with an replacement valuation certificate for £1600 (free of charge).
