Guide price: £75-120

An 1890 pattern German States Cavalry sword by WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & CO. Solingen with original scabbard. 34 1/4" fullered blade. This sword was given to the vendor by her Grandfather when she was a child and was used by her for her highland dancing displays and as such has travelled extensively even displaying on cruise ships and at Cowal Highland Games! Marked to blade with usual markings but unusually also carries a WD Arrow. The reasons for the WD mark are unknown as these swords were usually souvenirs of later conflicts and not pressed into British service. NB. A helpful customer has pointed out these blades were made for the British Army. The vendor pointed out a slight almost imperceptible bend in the blade end, this was not the result of a late Victorian cavalry charge but rather perhaps a hefty footed Highland dancer. Blade free from rust, usually pitting etc on scabbard.
