A superb Georgian STERLING SILVER tea service comprising teapot, sugar and cream. Teapot inscribed ''Presented by the Corporation of the school for the Indigent Blind to Mrs Gall as a token of the grateful sense which they entertain of the services rendered to that institution by Mr Gall in teaching the blind the arts of reading and writing, London August 1831'' Hallmarks Birmingham 1830, Makers JA /IA. Total combined gross weight 1280g approx. Gall was a founder of the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh and was known for being an early introducer of Braille into Britain.
