Lot 380
PEEBLES RAILWAY HISTORY! SEE STATION Photograph ATTACHED -From Stobo Station House. A large SWAN VESTAS enamel sign 120cm x 90cm. With wear as expected from this historical piece. As seen on old postcards of the station (see enamel sign in picture) Makers name to bottom central Pat. Enamel Co. Ltd Birmingham & London. Additional info: Further to our conversation yesterday (auctioneer & Vendor) about the double tracks in the image, these tracks were only a temporary measure opened 27/6/06-1920's (for Royal Highland Show at Peebles in the same year) and closed 8/6/21. The second platform was a wooden construction. Information from Peebles Railways by Peter Marshall, The Oakwood Press. However, comment that the signs are more likely to be from the 1930's, given that the station/route went into decline in the 1950's.
Guide: £190-450
