Guide price: £300-900

A late 18th century Scottish Mahogany stick barometer (98cm long). Made by renowned instrument maker John Russell of Falkirk, Scotland who went on to become a celebrated clock and watch maker, this is a fine survivor. The barometer has an oval mahogany cover for the mercury cistern and the case is veneer with chequered inlays to the edges. The open brass guide at the top is in lovely condition complete with the slider. There is a minor loss to the beading at the top left which does not detract from this superb instrument.
