JOAN RENTON, 'Sunset On The Forth, ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR, signed in pencil and dated verso 1975 - dimensions 34 x 46cm ADDITIONAL INFO; Joan Renton was born in 1935 and studied at the Edinburgh College of Art where she was taught by three exemplary Scottish artists, William Gillies, John Maxwell and Robin Philipson. After a travelling scholarship to Spain in 1959, she was a teacher before becoming a full time artist. The recipient of several Awards, Joan was elected to the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour in 1974.

''TAKE ME BY THE FLYING SCOTSMAN' - Vintage Railway Poster print of Take Me by the Flying Scotsman. Large QUALITY light oak rimmed glazed frame - would make an interesting and FABULOUS XMAS GIFT! Additional info; Artist Alfred Thomson created the image in the Art Deco style, emphasising the huge scale and sleekness of the Gresley A1 class locomotive that bore the name of the famous London to Edinburgh service. The painting appeared on a London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) poster from 1932, accompanied by the slogan ‘Take Me by the Flying Scotsman'. The composition, which shows a young girl in a hat looking up in awe at the driver of the train, is a pastiche of an earlier Southern Railway poster. - dimensions of frame 103cm height x 78cm width approx
